You should use a simple formula: “220 minus your age”. For instance, if you are 40, so your range will be 180. Now look at the scale:

50% of 180 is 90 beats
60% of 180 is 108 beats
70% of 180 is 126 beats per minute etc.

But you should begin your workout from 50% and step by step you may come up to 70%.

Your workout mustn’t last more than 10- 20 minutes. When you get used to exercise at 70% you can slowly extend your heart rate on 10%.
