Earlier parents didn’t worry so much about children obesity. In fact, some even ignored this fact. But nowadays the increasing number of obese children is beginning to disturb a lot of parents. Obese children are prone to diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure and usually suffer from self-esteem problems and depression. Nowadays children afflicted with obesity are as young as 13, probably even younger.

Parents should to devise an exercise routine, especially for the younger children. And of course first off all they should be fut. You may go out and play Frisbee at the park, play hide and seek, go swimming or even run around with the dog. Children love when parents express interest in their activities.

Another very important step is to monitor your child's diet. Help your child develop good eating habits early on, but don’t forget to take a look at your own habits. It would be difficult to teach children certain habits when your own are questionable.

You should to avoid junk food and of course food that contains high amounts of sugar. Of course, this doesn't mean your family has to survive on bland food. There are a lot of food choices that are both tasty and healthy. Prepare healthy meals for your kids but it is important to remember not to force them to eat. Give them time to adjust to the new meals.

If your child does something good, do not reward him with food. It will be better if you do something fun together.

Your doctor can help you to choose correct diet for your child and choose correct plan to keep your child in shape. Also a lot of families join support groups and surround themselves with people who are going through the same problem you are.
